The Mercury series from Atlas Lens are classic anamorphic lenses, but in a compact, lightweight design. The 1.5x lens design of the Mercury series has many of the visual characteristics of the 2x Cinemascope format. Half the size and weight of most anamorphic lenses, the Mercury series has vintage personality: barrel distortion, shallow depth of field and an elongated, oval bokeh with golden lens flares, virtually without chromatic aberration. They also impress with an accurate, smooth-running mechanism and for anamorphic lenses they do focus very well at close range. A compact and beautiful alternative to the Orion series.
