Our set of Cooke Speed Panchro S2/S3 is from the period between 1957 and 1972 and was assembled, rehoused and overhauled by P+S Technik with a great deal of love and expertise in 2021. These lenses are the epitome of the legendary ‘The Cooke Look’. They are known for their excellent portrayal of faces and their painterly expression. Despite a pleasant sharpness, they flatter every skin tone. They have the perfect amount of barrel distortion and vignette, so they are favoured for close-ups of faces. Cooke Speed Panchros have a long history in cinema, they were used in classics such as ‘Citizen Kane’ (1941) by Orson Welles, ‚Home Alone’ (Chris Columbus, 1990) or by Woody Allen (e.g. To Rome With Love, Midnight In Paris), but also in Oscar-nominated and award-winning Hollywood films such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (2018), ‘Carol’ (2015) or ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ (2023).
